In the dark about load-shedding
Residents were left concerned after the municipality posted a load-shedding schedule on their Facebook page last week
CONCERNS of load-shedding looms as the election season came to an end.
Residents were hit with this reality after the uMhlathuze Municipality posted a load-shedding schedule on their Facebook page last week.
Many used the platform to express their dissatisfaction and accused government of not implementing load-shedding for the past two months owing to the negative effects it would have had during the elections.
However, uMhlathuze Municipality spokesperson Mdu Ncalane told the ZO that the load-shedding schedule was sent to them by Eskom, but that it was not a definite.
‘There is no way for us to tell when load-shedding will be implemented, but we were told that there was a possibility.’
Ncalane said those residents who complained that load-shedding was being ‘tested’ in their areas, should report the matter as an electrical fault.
‘There is no such thing as testing for load-shedding. On that particular day we did experience a problem in eSikhawini which was caused by a cable fault. If anyone is experiencing electricity cuts, they should not hesitate to report it.’
Eskom has not communicated any plans to implement load-shedding in the near future.
