With the recent spate of power outages, parts of KZN have been left in darkness. Darren, Keri, and Sky spoke to Roy Wienand, Deputy Head of eThekwini Electricity, and he shed some light on the situation.
Listen to the interview or read the story below:
Given the current climate we live in, the people of KZN are always a step ahead when it comes to load shedding. Most of KZN has the schedule on hand so that they are aware of when the lights will go off.
But for some this week, the power outages were unexpected. On Tuesday night, areas north of Umgeni and pockets of areas south of the Umgeni, Morningside, and Overport were also out. Over a third of Durban's load was down.
This was according to the eThekwini Municipality's official Twitter account.
Eskom’s Avon substation incurred a fault resulting in a blackout to entire areas north of the Umgeni. Pockets of areas south of the Umgeni: Morningside and Overport are also out. Over a third of Durbans load is down.
