Eskom denies claims of looming load shedding

Eskom continues to encourage residents and businesses to use electricity sparingly.

Eskom assured its customers that there is no planned load shedding expected in September or October.

This followed a statement released by the Democratic Alliance on Thursday that load shedding was again on the cards.

“We have not communicated to any stakeholder that there will be load shedding,” Eskom said.

Eskom communicated its summer plan on September 4 at a media briefing at Megawatt Park, where the power entity indicated that while no load shedding was expected over summer, the risk remained as the system was still tight and vulnerable due to plant maintenance.

Following a statement by the DA regarding possible load shedding, Eskom’s acting group chief executive Jabu Mabuza is open to discuss details with the DA.
